I found this very recent photo on Flickr, taken in 2015. Car still looks good.

My family owned this car from about 82 to 90. We renovated it, and changed the colour from yellow to blue. I used it as my everyday car for 2 years. Good to see it's still around, but I see from the mots that it only does a small mileage these days. Needs to be driven more.!!

Volvo P1800

We bought this car in about 1982. It was pretty rusty, although only 12 years old. We replaced all 4 wings, inner rear wheel arches, repaired the front inner wings , rebuilt both sills which were rotten, did a small amount of mechanical work, and changed the colour from mustard yellow to blue. Cars in the 70s did rust very quickly, even Volvos, my father had a 145 which rusted through on the rear wheel arches at only 3 years old! He swapped it for a 144 which also rusted through on the front wings at 4 year old. The cam wore out at 30k miles, which Volvo described as ' fair wear and tear '!! Then the engine seized at 50k miles. Despite this he bought a 244 (he still thought Volvos were reliable!?!) which seemed ok, until he smashed it up 12 years later. I'm happy the P1800 E is still around and looking good, although I notice from the mot history that it failed recently for rust. Not bad for 30 years after our rebuild I suppose. I hope some day to see it again, although I think it is in the south of the country these days, and I don’t get down there nowadays. I even had a thought that I might one day own it again, if it were ever for sale. Let me know if it's for sale! !

Volvo P1800 The car is actually a 1800E.

I can't believe it; I can see 'my' gorgeous 1800E again! I bought this car from a lady in Balham, London who had loved this car and even got married in it. I remember seeing her in my rear view mirror, standing in the middle of the road dabbing away her tears, as I drove it away back to Brighton. I owned the car ( I think ) from 1995 to 2000. I know I bought my son home from hospital in it when he was born in 1998. I reluctantly sold it as I had a very young, very unwell child and we had to convert the garage into a bedroom for him. I wasn't driving it as much, and I couldn't stand the idea of it deteriorating by not being used. I have never polished a car like that Volvo. I sold it to a young banker from Cadogan Square, Knightsbridge. I still have the bill of sale somewhere. Out of all the more exotic cars I've owned since, it's the one I always think about. it had soul. I hope that it is still alive and beautiful.
